Notably, Manitoba is represented by just one journal, Mosaic (ISSN: 00271276) published by University of Manitoba with an SJR 0.1 whereas the highest SJR on the Scimago Journal Ranking is 106.

Furthermore, statistics from ScienceDirect show that in 2023, approximately 2,200+ scientific articles were published by Manitoban universities, with the University of Manitoba contributing 1037 articles, the University of Winnipeg 1006, Brandon University 46, and over 10 from other institutions such as University of St. Boniface and University College of the North etc. These figures highlight the need for professional research support services in the region.
